Flipping over JAVOedge
A few weeks ago I was asked by JAVOedge, a gadget accessory company, to test and review new cases they had designed for the Amazon Kindle 2. (Ahh, the perks of blogging!) I was sent two Flip cases: The Polynesian and The Pink Croc. They also have a selection of more masculine styles as well as covers for the Kindle DX.
The most striking thing about The Polynesian is the unusual fabric, made with natural fibers it is somewhat rough to the touch, though not excessively so. The interior however is butter soft imitation leather and this is actually what you feel when your reading. This is a great cover choice if you prefer "animal friendly" products. I love the unique hibiscus pattern which has a cool retro quality. It also seems extra durable, I am not afraid to throw it in my purse and go!
Your Kindle slides into an inner sleeve that fits it perfectly and holds it securely. Even with a skin it is not hard to get it in and out, though it does mostly cover the skin, a bit of a negative if you have made that investment. However it is a plus if you have not and still want to protect the exterior of your Kindle. There is access to the headphone jack and the speakers, which I tested out the text-to-speech function and had no trouble hearing it.
Both cases have small kick stands, which I love cause not only can you prop it up opened to read hands free, you can also stand it up closed on your desk or beside table. The stand snaps back in place allowing the cover to fold back almost flat when opened, making it easy to hold while you read. There is a pocket and card holder, good for putting your business card or other id, in case you lose your Kindle (yikes!). The larger pocket I could live without, but you can slip your hand in there while reading which can be handy.
The Pink Croc cover is really stunning in person. A lovely, dusty shade of pink, it is real leather with a crocodile stamp and the quality of the stitching and construction is very impressive. They also produce this cover in a book and sleeve style (note: the sleeve does not work if you have a skin). They both have a slightly smaller profile when compared to the M-edge Go or Oberon (see stacked photo above) and are fairly light weight. I especially like the use of magnetic closures which secures the closed cover well, while keeping it slim & sleek.
These are priced at 49.95 plus free shipping when purchased through Amazon. This is a great cover to take when your on the go, perfect if your dinning alone or traveling. I also have liked it just for every day reading for the ease of use and the soft feel of the interiors (real or not). If you do not own a Kindle, they also have cool cases for many other devices including iPhones, Sony Readers and Blackberrys.

wow, I like that pink croc and I usually don't like pink. I'm also drawn to the flip design- my covers have been the style that opens like a book, and I am intrigued by the flip style.
Both are wonderful, it would be hard to choose.
vickie
The skin is a custom skin I got from skinit.com I used a watercolor by my Great Aunt that a scanned and uploaded. A full picture is at the bottom of my flickr box on the right side of my blog, if you click the pic you can see it bigger.
I think I'm in love with the hibiscus flip cover!! Now to convince the fiance I cannot live without it. :D
Saw this on Kidleboards and i had to check them out! They are soo pretty!! I love that Pink croc one!
thanks! The only problem with skins is (as a Jesuit friend used to say) "Choice is the enemy of decision"
Hi,
These are great looking covers. I just purchased my Kindle 2 and the Pink Croc would be a great way to protect it. I hope to win.
Thanks
I love the 'polynesian' cover! And the fact that it stands up on it's own is genius.
I'm just on the verge of clicking the confirm button on my Amazon Kindle purchase, and I knew your blog was the place to go to find a pretty protective case.
I don't normally like pink, but that croc cover is gorgeous. I am definitely headed over to their page on amazon to see all of the designs.
These look awesome (!!!!) and super sturdy, great for an on-the-go college student like myself! Thanks for the offer!
