Kawaii Table Re-do!

This little table was from the Todd Oldham line for Target released back in 2002 and I think it was just $10. A great little piece with legs that fold up, it sat out on my porch and then was stuck under the house during renovations, the weather and damp taking its toll.

I tried spray painting it but it had some kind of paper cover and it began to bubble up and would not really take the color. So I decided to try and "upholster" the top, why not? I simply laid it on a piece of fabric and stapled it with a staple gun to the underside, stretching it tight as I went. Then trimmed off the excess fabric and walla!

A very easy fix and I love the result. I used an Amy Butler linen fabric called Optic Blossom and it will be easy to change out if I get tired of it. I am so pleased with it, I may try it on another table I just picked up.

Pie, Atticus and I will be back after the new year, I wish y'all much joy and happiness in 2012!

Wow Lara, you'd never guess that was a $10 table...a steal even in its original form! I love how you have a knack for making things looks so glamorous!

Wishing you and Atticus a fabulous New Year!!!

Fantastic makeover! I, too, have "upholstered" tabletops. My final touch is a glass top easily obtained from a glass company. They will even add a bevel edge, if you like. No stain worries and the fabric shines through!
For outdoors I have had the fabric "coated" so it is wipeable and water resistant. For a less expensive option I cover the fabric with clear tablecloth plastic from JoAnn Fabrics or similar shop.
Love your fabric!
