Smeg Report: Part 2
Color!
The color of an item is probably the biggest variable when buying online. Most people never calibrate the color on their monitors and even if they did, the differences are still too great to ever guarantee accuracy. I ordered my Smeg in the "pastel green" a soft, mint color on my monitor. In person it is a touch more blue than I expected, a soft aqua green if you will. I tried to get as close to actual color as possible in this image, though the color changes a bit with the light.

Here is a pretty close match I found via Pantone colors, called Lucite green.

Interior
It comes with a variety of shevles and plastic bins to allow you storage for inside the door, including handy egg holders and spacing options so you can place them where they will work best for you.

Two long lower shelves include these unique "teeth' style bars to help keep heavier items secure.

I especially love the pretty pattern detailed in the glass shelves, and the beverage rack featured in last weeks post. One thing I would have liked would be some info included in the manual on how to set up the interior and a picture or two suggesting the best use of all the accessories. It was a little like putting together a jigsaw puzzle with no ideal image to reference.

The freezer is super tiny but does have some depth and will be fine for most of my needs. In Europe they do offer larger versions with a separate top or bottom freezer. I hope they may make it over to the States one day. It does freeze very well, from the ice cubes to gelato, and really what more does one need? FYI: the Talenti sea salt caramel gelato is a-may-zing!
I tried to answer some of the questions I myself had before I pulled the trigger on this purchase but feel free to ask in case I missed something. Yes, they are pricey but you might check out your local Sears Outlet, you may get lucky, they do have them sometimes at a good price, though color options may be limited.

I tell you, seeing your fridge and your new digs makes me want to buy a house! It's bizarre. We're not really interested in buying a house (or moving...we've moved so many times in our 15 years of marriage) but I love your style. I just can't find that in apartments.
And that fridge is YUMMY!
What calibration tool do you use for your monitor? I'm looking to invest in one and am looking for good suggestions. Thanks!
The irony is, I am a renter, you can find great rentals, you just have do a lot of looking and a little luck does not hurt. That said, I hope this is my last rental, my goal is to buy my own place in the next 5 +years...
Oh, I'm so glad to see that you have a fresh new bottle of Rooster Sauce! Every refrigerator needs that lol! Thank you for all of the photographs and an excellent review of a very nice product.
Hi Lara. Congrats on the successful move, the new apartment and the awesome fridge. I absolutely love your blog. Can I ask what kind of camera you used to take the photos in this post? They are so sharp and beautiful.
Hi CC,
I used a Canon 5D.
