Color Me Spring!

"When God made me born a yankee he was teasin'..."
By far, the best argument for living in the South is this beautiful season. My historic neighborhood of Grant Park comes into bloom like no other and walking through it makes me silly with happiness. I wanted to capture the beauty of it while I had chance, cause it sadly does not last very long.

I have always wanted to have my own magazine. In junior high I made one for a school project, cutting & pasting it together and xeroxing every page. I even landed an interview with actress Teri Garr for it. I bombarded her agent with calls and one night, just before dinner the phone rang. I can still remember my Mom's astonished face after she asked who it was. I was 13. So you might imagine how exciting I find a site like Issuu, which allows anyone to digitally publish! So above is a little slice of Pie with the full shoot, follow the prompts to see it in high res form. Don't see it? Then click this button.
If you have an Issuu account you can subscribe to future Pie Publications here.

Speights & Faron, who kindly provided the bags for this shoot, is giving away these adorable jute handbags! Can't wait? They are also offering 15% off through April 30th with the promo code: PIEWACKET

A! MAZING! I love it all! The butterflies are genius and the spring colors make me so happy. I really love the bags too! I want to win.
I love digital mags, I am a mag-aholic!
A magazine version of Pie? Yes please!
I do read them.
Love Rue, Neet and Southern Flourish which I discovered here.
Beautiful photos as always Lara! Love the digital magazine and wasn't aware of Issuu.

Love this post and the magazine wow! Love, love your Teri Garr story!
I have not looked at many dig mags but I will now. Would love to see a Piewacket version, such a cool ideal.
I am slow to warm up to digital magazines, however -- I do like them.
Digital magazine version of Piewacket = Yes.
I like Southern Flourish.
I love living in Florida at this time of the year too. It's so pretty! Everything is blooming and it puts me in such a great mood.
What you think of digital magazines?
I honestly have not read any. So I really don't know. I think it could be a great way to cut down on paper and landfill waste by going to online or digital magazines. For that reason I would think it's a great idea.
Would you like to see a magazine version of Piewacket?
I'd certainly be interested in the premise. What kind of things would be in the magazine? Instead of daily posts would we get weekly magazine or a monthly magazine?
Do you read any digital mags? If so which ones?
Like I said, I've never even heard of digital mags. Any suggestions?
Love the pictures, love the bag, love the Indigo Girls too!. I'd love to see Piewacket as a digital mag. Right now Lonny is the only one I read.
Having just moved to California spring in the south is one of the things I miss the most... we have no real seasons out here!
I really like digital mags and read several, finally figured out how to get them on my nook mostly lonny mag, southern flourish, and neet.
I think a mag version of piewacket would be brilliant I love the site and it gives me a taste of home I miss so much.
Fantastic Photos :)
What you think of digital magazines? I like them.
Would you like to see a magazine version of Piewacket? Sure
Do you read any digital mags? Not at the moment.
If so which ones? I used to read The Plug, but it is on hiatus.
What a fabulous surprise to find a giveaway for my favorite part of the styling in this post! Thank you!
I love Piewacket and would love to see a digital magazine version.
Digital magazines are great as long as you have a computer that doesn't take FOREVER to load them. Like mine.
I do occasionally read some papercrafting magazines on line.
I LOVE your digital MAGAZINE! beautiful!!!
i'd love to read digi piewaket.
i don't read any digital magazines yet.
What you think of digital magazines? I think it's the turn of the new century. Everything is digitalized now
Would you like to see a magazine version of Piewacket? Yeah! I think that would be nifty!
Do you read any digital mags? No but I will :)
If so which ones? N/A
I've only very recently discovered digital magazines, but I have to say that I love them. I live in a very small apartment and paper magazines quickly clutter the place, because I take a while to read and digest everything in them. I'd definitely be interested in a Piewacket mag, though at the moment, most of the ones I read are to do with literature.
Oh...nothing says Spring like the sweet butterflies in the model's hair. Love them!
I quite like digital magazines and I'm a reader of "Dirrtyglam" and various stuff on MagWerk, usually "Encore" which features lots of beautiful photography. I'd love to see a Pie digital magazine because your site has such amazing content.
Keep up the good work!
Digital magazines are OK. I'm more interested in your blog, rather than a mag. Don't really read any. Thanks for the contest. Your blog is beautiful.
Hi there! I actually do like digital magazines, although sometimes I miss the good ol' fashion hardcopy. I would love to see a digital magazine of Pie Wacket... I could add it to Covet Garden, Rue, and Lonny Mag, the three I read right now. I may have to check out some of the other commenter's suggestions!!! Great post, cute bags, thank you!
i think dig mag are great. although i prefer to have an actual magazine on hand, just like books. and my eyes get strain really easily looking at computer screens. i dont follow a certain digital magazines, but i occasionally look at a few that i come across. i think it would be awesome if piewacket had a digital mag. perhaps i wouldnt have constantly check everyday if you had posted up a new blog..i can just look through your mag! :)
I just downloaded a digital version of Martha Stewart Living. It's nice, but I really like print magazines. You can take them places and rip out pages. I just like that.
The Piewacket digital is very pretty. I like that you kept it fairly short -- it makes reading a magazine on the screen feel more manageable.
I hadn't looked at a digital magazine until I got my ipad.
I downloaded Martha's free version and I was AMAZED!
It is the best way to view one.
I can't wait to view yours on it.
I enjoy your site and a once in a while mag would be great!
Thanks so much for turning me on to the website. I'm going to make one of my own!
PS: LOVE the bags - would LOVE to win one!
There are a few digital magazines I read because it is the only way they are offered. I do prefer to read print magazines better, but if the content is something I like (like your site) and it's the only way it's available, I would make a point of reading it.
I'm a huge magazine lover, and I do own a Kindle but I haven't looked at any digital magazines yet. I think I still prefer paper.
Gorgeous photos! You have a true gift!
Digital Magazines are great, they're the future!
I would love to see a Piewacket mag! I think it would be fun and certainly inspiring (this one has me wanting to pull out my spring dresses)
I'm just now learning about Rue and Southern Flourish (I'm a California girl but I think I was supposed to be southern, the passion, food, music and culture speak to my heart) - thanks a bunch to your blogs
about the questions, i'm with LC on this one.
i think i may check out what the other folks are mentioning!
maybe you could mention YOUR faves!
i sure would love to win one of these FABulous bags! they are SO me.
I prefer a print magazine because it is hard to sit outside with a digital magazine and a glass of wine after working in my garden. Or soak in the tub with a glass of wine after a long day of work! But I do read them and would def read a Pie digi mag. Covet Garden and Matchbook are my two online faves.
Yes, I read digi-mags! I have a little bit of an addicition to them. And, yes, I would read a Piewacket digital magazine.
I really haven't warmed up to the digital mags altough i have Martha Stewart Living on my iPad right now ... i'm still a paper kind of person :) I do love this photoshoot you did ... the styling is so fun and of course, the trees are gorgeous.
I love the photography and styling on this shoot. Beautiful job!
I have tried to look throught digital mags and although the images etc are just as beautiful as they are on paper I prefer the real thing...there's just something about holding a magazine and physically turning the pages...
Call me old fashioned...that's ok!
p.s. I love those Speights and Faron bags.
The bags look amazingly cute!
I prefer reading magazines when they are physical, it just doesn't feel the same looking at it in a digital format.
I love reading Piewacket online as a blog because it feels personal, although i think a magazine version would be nice too.
I've been following piewacket from Singapore and i must say i really love it and all your posts bring a bit of warmth and put a smile on my face on a drab day.
Love the bags and I love love love digital magazines!
Would be great to see a digital vesion of piewacket...
I recently got an ipad so I am working to convert all my subscriptions to digital. I read Martha, paper mache, elle decor, and as many as I can find. So bring it on!
:)
