Smeg: A Love Story ❤

I never really thought I would have a crush on an appliance but my love for the Smeg Fridge borders on the point of obsession. My ultimate dream kitchen would have 1920s vintage tile and a Smeg in light green. More of this kawaii loft at Micasa.

Based in Italy, they only recently became available in the U.S. and they are not cheap! I did find this a deal via Amazon, the retail price of $1999 is pretty on par but you would save with free shipping and no sales tax in most areas.

Destined to become a pop icon, if not one already. I love this illustration by Rojo & Garabato a groovy design team from Spain, be sure to check out their magazine!

I have only found the single door style available on this side of the pond. Still it's all about the color choices. Even the "cream" looks better than your average white fridge. I would love the one on the bottom right, with the freezer on the bottom. Oh and the light blue is pretty dreamy.

They even do custom finishes...the mind boggles!

I just discovered these about a week ago and fell in love instantly. I vow to have one of these some day. Beautiful!

What fun colors!

YES, I LOVE these! I've seen them before. It amazes me how many people all want stainless steel. No character. I'll have to check out the energy efficiency of these though.

Lara, you are so right about the white - I hate how appliances are that "hospital white" color. I would love a 30's style kitchen though I have given up on ever having one. At this point, I would also be happy with a 50's- 70's knotty pine style one with avocado or harvest gold appliances.

The Smeg refrigerators do, indeed, have an unfortunate name, although it wouldn't necessarily be a *bad* thing to be constantly reminded of Red Dwarf. ;)

Here's another company that does a line of similar retro appliances, with coordinating stoves and other pieces: http://elmirastoveworks.com/

One of our favorite hotels—the Ace—has Smeg fridges in all of their rooms! So cool! We've already decided that we'll get one for our next apartment.

i saw this post and literally (and loudly) said "oh my holly god!" which prompted a coworker to respond "what's wrong!" i can't put the words together to describe how much i want this. i have been trying so hard to find these exactly! i have the feeling one day mac is going to regret me finding this post ;)

Well, Mac may have already told you but I just got one and he said you would love it. I will be posting about it next week. Feel free to email me and I can put you in touch with the right peeps. I got it direct from Smeg, if you have your own business then you may be able to get it direct from them as well.
