Smeg Report: Part 2

Color!

The color of an item is probably the biggest variable when buying online. Most people never calibrate the color on their monitors and even if they did, the differences are still too great to ever guarantee accuracy. I ordered my Smeg in the "pastel green" a soft, mint color on my monitor. In person it is a touch more blue than I expected, a soft aqua green if you will. I tried to get as close to actual color as possible in this image, though the color changes a bit with the light.

Here is a pretty close match I found  via Pantone colors, called Lucite green.

Interior

It comes with a variety of shevles and plastic bins to allow you storage for inside the door, including handy egg holders and spacing options so you can place them where they will work best for you.

Two long lower shelves include these unique "teeth' style bars to help keep heavier items secure.

I especially love the pretty pattern detailed in the glass shelves, and the beverage rack featured in last weeks post. One thing I would have liked would be some info included in the manual on how to set up the interior and a picture or two suggesting the best use of all the accessories. It was a little like putting together a jigsaw puzzle with no ideal image to reference.

The freezer is super tiny but does have some depth and will be fine for most of my needs. In Europe they do offer larger versions with a separate top or bottom freezer. I hope they may make it over to the States one day. It does freeze very well, from the ice cubes to gelato, and really what more does one need? FYI: the Talenti sea salt caramel gelato is a-may-zing!

I tried to answer some of the questions I myself had before I pulled the trigger on this purchase but feel free to ask in case I missed something. Yes, they are pricey but you might check out your local Sears Outlet, you may get lucky, they do have them sometimes at a good price, though color options may be limited.

Smeg Report~ Part 1

So I've now lived with my Smeg for 2 weeks and I have no regrets on this major splurge. Not only has it proved more beautiful than expected, it has also made me more conscious of what I put in it or on it. In turn making me a better fridge owner.

It is small, 9cubic feet, perfect for a single person or couple, or for a secondary space, like a studio or office. When I lived in NYC, I had a similar size fridge in my first apartment and always found it more than adequate.

My goal is to keep the interior as clean and sleek as the exterior. Stocking it with fresh items that I will eat right away. No more pushing old items to the back and digging them out months later with only a vague memory of what they were.

More to come... next week!

True Love

A sneak peek at my new fridge. Some of you will recall this post and fully understand my excitement. I will have a full post with more details and photos when Pie returns on the 28th.

Spring Forward

Finding inspiration for a spring fashion shoot while the thermometer dips to freezing is just a click away. After previewing the beautiful cloths I will be shooting for Lesley Evers, I have been picturing the look and feel I want. To share this with the rest of my crew, I put together a montage to inspire us all.

FYI: Check out their incredible sale with 50-70% off!

Give Me Liberty

Target's trend of bringing hot british brands to the masses, is could be the best idea since dvr players! First it was Orla Kiely and now Liberty of London produces a floral bonanza just in time for spring!

Products range from cloths to housewares...there is even a bike! Just look for the butterflies hovering over the displays. This whimsical watering can (19.99) was the first thing on my list, I had to visit two stores to find it.

Two wallet styles, fresh from the garden. I especially love the laminated poppy one on the bottom, just 14.99.

Liberty and Co. is a department store that opened it doors in 1875 in London’s popular Regent Street shopping district. In the late 1800s, owner Arthur Liberty began manufacturing what has come to be known as his art fabrics—predominantly floral designs with which Liberty is still identified. Even now, floral prints are often referred to as Liberty prints, whether or not the fabric is indeed manufactured by Liberty.

Pretty pillows ranging from just 16.99 to 19.99!

A set of "prep" bowls are perfect to hold all the flatware I have been collecting in my newly reorganized studio prop cabinet.

Below, I repurposed a couple of cereal bowls (2.49!) as sweet little planters. Just add a few small pebbles under the soil to absorb excess water and you can do this with any bowl.

Already, much of the Target collection is sold out, even online. You can find a lot of it being sold for scalper's prices on ebay. I suggest to keep checking your local Target for new shipments or even ask them to check the back for a specific item, you might get lucky!
