Simply Kawaii

How can one such as I really be expected to pass up a package of Orla Kiely pencils for $10? Seriously? Had to have them and that is just one of the many kawaii items I found at a new Atlanta shop, Simply Put.

From unique gifts to custom letterpress stationary designed by Ashley Woodman this charming little store has landed right in the booming Westside Provisions District

Like a mini Kate's Paperie with it's own unique twist and more personal service. Doors are open now but for details on their official October launch and special offers you can be added to their email~newsletter list by sending a request here.

West Egg Café

West Egg Café is a popular staple on Atlanta's booming Westside and recently relocated to a large light filled space just around the bin from the old one. I have a soft spot for their coca cola cupcakes and they also serve up some of the best grits in town.

You have to love a restaurant that doles out breakfast all day, has a photo booth, cupcakes and on weekends serves red velvet pancakes. Above is the blue plate breakfast special which is just under $7 (cupcake not included).

They also serve a pretty good lunch with a variety of entrees, sandwiches, salads, burgers and specials. I tried out the curry chicken salad on some tasty challah bread pictured above which was very good.

Amazing what you can get a three year old to do with the promise of a cupcake.

They also have a nice little coffee bar area if you just want to read... hit the laptop... have a cookie... drink a latte... take some snaps... eat a cupcake...

New in Town

In the last few years theWestside of Atlanta has erupted with new eateries and hip merchants. One of the newest is a fancy fast food joint calledYeah! Burger in the newly renovatedWhite Provision. I am always on the look out for exceptional burgers, so I was excited to test it out. They offer a lot of options you won't get at your local Mc-y Ds, like gluten free buns, veggie burgers, ice cream floats and even a full bar.

Much time has been spent on branding, with fun little characters and bright colors throughout. The menu is designed to allow you to build it your way, with premium toppings like cheese or avocado $1 extra. With the base price of a burger already high at 7.99, it does add up quick. I ordered two premium toppings, plus a 50/50 (fry and onion ring combo) and a small drink and my bill was over 15.00.

The burger was very tasty, the meat was juicy and not over cooked, love the big pickles and fresh buns made byH&F Bread Co. However my fries and onion rings were both on the dry side, almost as if they were baked. I missed the grease! They also dust them with seasoning which only added to the dry effect.

I also have to comment that the tiny containers they provide for ketchup are ridiculously small. Still, it was a good burger even at almost $10, so I will eat there again. I'm interested to try some of their sauce options, I forgot to add one to my order this trip. Parking is easy, there is a small area in front, additional parking behind or you can park like I did, over byStar Provisions and walk over the conneting bridge.

FYI: Just one day left to enter theRooster 14 cookie giveaway and just on day left to get 20% off on allonline orders!
